When is a Book Being Read "Finished"

When do you consider a book you're reading as being finished? So many books have extras at the end - study guides, interviews with the author, endnotes/references, etc. I usually read the author bio and acknowledgements, and if there are endnotes/references with anything more than a source attribution or citation. I won't do much more than skim other things. So have I really finished reading a book if I haven't read all of this extra stuff?

Christmas in July?

While waiting for the South Shore train this morning on my way to work, there was a piece of wrapping paper tumbling around the parking lot. What really made it stand out was the fact that it was Christmas paper - a snowman motif on a blue background. Trash around that station isn't unusual, but I had to wonder where this scrap came from - someone cleaning out their car or home? My car is usually messy, but even I don't have used Christmas wrap rattling around in it. Was it from a recent gift, given to a kid who really likes snowmen? I'll never know, but I did pick it up and stuff it into my backpack.

Back Again

I've decided to finally keep this blog and update it. Stay tuned for non-rabbit related writing, and hopefully people will enjoy what I put here as much as on the "Happy Feet" blog.

Jacket shopping

Today, I finally went shopping for a denim jacket. had one that I liked for a decent price, and the site said that most retail locations had it. So, I drove the few miles to the evil Walmart Supercenter and looked for denim jackets there. Well, it's getting to be late March, so of course they had already sold jackets out on clearance. There were plenty of shorts and tank tops to choose from. I love how you have to buy a winter coat in July, otherwise they're sold out, and bikinis and beach-wear in December.

Since the buns have gained a good readership of their blog, I figured it was time for "Mama" to have her own blog, too. I'll be adding a few posts over the next week or two, so please keep checking back.
